Happy New Year friends!

It's that time of the year again that Instagram is taken over by the makenine challenge, an original idea by Rochelle of  LuckyLucille and the @homerowfiberco. The idea behind makenine is to help makers to evaluate our motivations and needs for working towards specific things as the year goes on. Rochelle even put together 9 questions to help us with our pattern choices.
Long story short I decided to take part in this challenge with 18 makes, 9 sewing and 9 knitting ones.

I am a slow knitter so I don't think I will be able to finish all of my knitting projects but hopefully this challenge will help me stick to my plans and not get distracted by all the new beautiful patterns.

Back in February I tested Nicole's new pattern the Matilda shorts. Those shorts are really comfortable.

Τι σας έχω, τι σας έχω;  Ο Μάιος ήρθε και παρόλο που ο καιρός μας κάνει κόλπα, πού θα πάει θα καλοκαιριάσει. Γι΄αυτό και εγώ σήμερα σας έχω σορτς και εκπτωσούλα.

Τον Φεβρουάριο δοκίμασα το Matilda shorts, το καινούργιο πατρόν της Nicole (θυμάστε το natalie top μου από την ίδια εταιρεία;) δεν σας το έδειξα τότε γιατί έπρεπε να περιμένω να κυκλοφορίσει πρώτα το πατρόν στην αγορά και έτσι τώρα ήρθε η ώρα.




The pattern comes in 6 sizes and features a loose fitting wide leg, back darts, front pleats and an invisible zipper.  It's an intermediate level pattern but the clear instructions makes it rather easy to sew. It also has an optional lining


Βγαίνει σε 6 μεγέθη, έχει μεσαίο καβάλο, φαρδύ μπατζάκι, πένσες πίσω, πιέτες μπροστά και κρυφό φερμουάρ, πράγματα που ανεβάζουν το βαθμό δυσκολίας του, αλλά οι οδηγίες είναι πολύ καλές.
Επίσης έχει προεραιτική φόδρα ανάλογα το ύφασμα που θα χρησιμοποιήσει κανείς.





I used some black crepe that I had in my stash and some satin lining also from my stash.
It was only the second time that I sewed a lined garment and I was a bit stressed but everything went ok. I sewed a straight XXL with no alterations but once again i could have gone down one size. 
Now that the the weather is getting warmer i want to sew an unlined cotton version and I'll try the XL.


Εγώ χρησιμοποίησα κρεπ ύφασμα και φόδρα (είναι μόλις η δεύτερη φορά που ράβω φοδραρισμένο ρούχο και είχα άγχος αλλά όλα πήγαν καλά), επίσης πάλι έραψα το ΧΧL αλλά μου είναι μεγάλο, πάντα φοβάμαι να κόψω το πιο μικρό μήπως και δεν μπω και τότε δεν υπάρχει γυρισμός.
Τώρα που ο καιρός ζεσταίνει θα ράψω ένα μικρότερο, βαμβακερό και χωρίς φόδρα για να το φοράω όλη την ώρα.

Καλά ραψίματα.

 As I mentioned in my previous post, 2015 was a productive year, I sewed almost all my clothes (if I am not mistaken around 2015 I only bought two clothes from ready to wear). Nevertheless of course I wanted to sew a bunch more but I had no time.

I'll start with the most worn garment of my closet and that is none other than my favorite jeans !!!! The pattern is from sewliberated the simple skinny jeans and when we say simple we mean SIPMLE. Elastic jeans with elasticated waist without buttons and zippers which makes it comfortable but also easy and quick to make. It is the fourth that I make (both previously worn out due to daily use and one stays in my closet unworn because of  poor fabric choice.)My only advice is invest in a good fabric with enough elasticity because those pants are tight and you will not regret it.


'Oπως σας είπα και στην προηγούμενη ανάρτηση, το 2015 ήταν μια παραγωγική χρονιά, έραψα σχεδόν όλα τα ρούχα μου (αν δεν κάνω λάθος όλο το 2015 αγόρασα  2 έτοιμα ρούχα). Παρόλ' αυτά  βέβαια  πάντα έχω στο μυαλό μου ότι ήθελα να ράψω άλλα τόσα που δεν πρόλαβα.

Θα ξεκινήσω με το πιο πολυφορεμένο ρούχο της ντουλάπας μου και αυτό δεν είναι άλλο από το αγαπημένο μου τζην παντελόνι!!!! Το πατρόν είναι από το sewliberated το simple skinny jeans και όταν λέμε simple εννοούμε SIPMLE. Είναι ελαστικό τζην με ελαστική μέση χωρις κουμπιά φερμουαρ πράγμα που το κάνει άνετο σαν φόρμα αλλά και εύκολο και γρήγορο στην κατασκευή. Είναι το τέταρτο που φτιάχνω (τα δυο προηγούμενα έλιωσαν λόγω καθημερινής χρήσης και ένα μενει στη ντουλάπα μου αφόρετο λόγω κακής επιλογής υφάσματος.)
Η μόνη μου συμβουλή είναι επενδύστε σε ένα καλό ύφασμα με αρκετή ελαστικότητα γιατί το παντελόνι αυτό είναι εφαρμοστό και δεν θα το μετανιώσετε.









Immediately after my jeans in the list of my most worn clothing is a cardigan. The pattern is, laurelhurst from Kimberly of straightstitchdesigns, a design that was very popular around the shops this year. I used a woolen jersey that I bought for 3 €/m and it is super warm.


Αμέσως μετά στη λίστα με τα πιο πολυφορεμένα ρούχα μου είναι μια ζακέτα. Το πατρόν είναι το, laurelhurst απο την Kimberly του straightstitchdesigns, ένα σχέδιο ζακέτας που κυκλοφόρισε φέτος στα μαγαζιά όσο κανένα άλλο. Την έφτιαξα με ένα μάλλινο ζέρσευ που αγόρασα μόνο 3€ το μέτρο και είναι σούπερ ζεστή.







Initially my cardi was long but after putting it in the washing machine as shown in the pictures all changed (as I understand someone .... aka I washed it with hot water). I pulled from here, pulled from there and managed to get. To say the truth I like best now !!!


'Oμως ενώ αρχικά ήταν μακρυά, μετά το πρώτο πλύσιμο όπως φαίνεται και στις φωτογραφίες όλα άλλαξαν (όπως καταλάβατε κάποιος .... εγω δηλαδή την έπλυνα με ζεστό νερό). Τράβηξα από εδώ, τράβηξα από εκει και κατάφερα να μπω. Για να πω και την αλήθεια μου αρέσει πιο πολυ τώρα!!!





And because one pair of jeans is not enough I made another one a little more difficult. The pattern is jalie jeans 2908 and it includes 27 numbers !!! among them childrens from 2 years. These jeans have  button and zipper.

 Και επειδή ένα τζην παντελόνι δεν είναι αρκετό έφτιαξα και ένα λίγο πιο δύσκολο. Το πατρόν είναι το jalie jeans 2908 και περιλαμβάνει 27 νούμερα!!! μεταξύ αυτών και παιδικά από 2 ετών. Αυτό είναι <<κανονικό>> τζην με κουμπί και φερμουάρ.








 Last but not least is my mccalls 7242 tulip top 

Για το τέλος άφησα  μια μπλουζα τισ οποίας το σχέδιο μου αρέσει πολύ

IT'S DECEMBER!
I've been busy lately but i 'm back with good news. 
Rae from made-by-rae just released her new women pants pattern the luna pants, and i was lucky enough to test it. This is probably the most comfortable pants i have ever worn. 


Καλό μήνα σε όλους!
Δεν σας ξέχασα αλλά η αλήθεια είναι ότι αυτό το διάστημα έπεσε πολύ δουλειά και έτσι χάθηκα λίγο.
Λοιπόν ανάμεσα στη συμμετοχή μου στη έκθεση Handmade Dreams και στις ετοιμασίες για τα Χριστούγεννα είχα μια ευχάριστη έκπληξη. Είχα την ευκαιρία να τεστάρω ένα πατρόν για την Rae  από το made-by-rae. Πρόκειται για το luna pants, ίσως το πιο άνετο παντελόνι που έχω φορέσει ποτέ.





This is an easy pattern that can be completed in one afternoon.
It's loose fitting with an elastic waistband, tapered legs and of course pockets.......!

Είναι ένα εύκολο πατρον που μπορεί να ράψει και ένας αρχάριος. 
'Εχει φαρδιά γραμμή, με λάστιχο στη μέση και στα μπατζάκια και έχει και τσέπες.........!




 
These pants are so comfortable that can be worn as pj's to (definitely going to do that with a nice flannel i have in my stash). After sewing the pants together i had to go down one size.
The pattern has about 4" of ease and since i' m not that tall..... you know.


Είναι πάρα πολύ άνετο και σίγουρα μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί και σαν πατρον για πιτζάμα.
Αφού έραψα το μέγεθος που μου υπέδειξε το πατρόν χρειάστηκε να το στενέψω κατα ένα νούμερο περίπου. 





I am getting compliments on these pants every single time i wear them, and the best part is that i can still feel relaxed after wearing them all day long.


Παρόλο που είναι ένα φαρδύ παντελόνι σε στυλ φόρμας εισέπραξα θετικά σχόλια όποτε το φόρεσα.
Και για του λόγου το αληθές εδώ και η απόδειξη οτι ένα χαλαρό παντελόνι σε κάνει και νιώθεις κι εσύ χαλαρά.

Hello everybody, today i'm going to talk to you about my latest and one of the most loved makes the Natalie top.

Σήμερα θα σας δείξω το τελευταίο μπλουζάκι που έφτιαξα και ίσως και το πιο αγαπημένο μου. το πατρόν είναι το Natalie top.





Not much to say about this pattern other than it was love at first sight. It's a loose fitting top with a pleated front, an optional pocket and roll up sleeves. I used a herringbone chambray from imaginegnats. It's super soft, it sewed like a dream, it wrinkles like hell, but i like the look of it.

Για το συγκεκριμένο πατρόν δεν έχω και πολλά να σας πω πέρα απ' το ότι ήταν έρωτας με την πρώτη ματιά. χρησιμοποίησα ένα ύφασμα με σχέδιο ψαροκόκαλο που αγόρασα από το imaginegnats  προ capital controls. Είναι πολύ απαλό, ράβετε πανεύκολα και τσαλακώνει όσο δε φαντάζεστε. Παρόλα' αυτά μου αρέσει πολύ.

FALL SEWING part II: the Parisian Top from Go To Patterns

Hello again, i' m back with another fall pattern the Parisian top from go to patterns.


Καλημέρα με ενα καινούργιο φθινοπωρινό μπλουζάκι. Το πατρόν είναι το Parisian top από το go to patterns. 
 



This is a knit top, with a peter pan collar and lightly gathered sleeves. This pattern is easy and it comes with a hem band which makes it easier for a beginner. I chose not to use the hem band and simply hemmed it. 


Είναι ένα ζέρσεϋ μπλουζάκι  με γιακά "peter pan"και ελαφρώς φουσκωτά μανίκια. 




This top is comfortable as a t-shirt but way more elegant.

Στην ουσία είναι άνετο όσο ένα Τ-shirt, αλλά σαφώς πιο κομψό.








What i really like about this pattern is that the collar can be made with either woven or knit fabric allowing for endless possibilities. I used a woven fabric i love and had in my stash for a long time.

Αυτό που μου αρέσει πολύ στο συγκεκριμένο πατρόν είναι οτι ο γιακάς μπορεί να γίνει από ζέρσεϋ ή βαμβακερό ύφασμα πράγμα που σου δίνει αμέτρητες επιλογές.

Εγώ επέλεξα να χρησιμοποιήσω ένα αγαπημένο βαμβακερό ύφασμα που είχα εδώ και πολύ καιρό.






Tip: Στο internet κυκλοφορούν δωρεάν πατρόν για τον συγκεκριμένο γιακά που θα μπορούσατε  να χρησιμοποιήσετε σε ένα πατρόν μπλούζας που είδη έχετε.

FALL SEWING: the McCartney Jacket from pattern anthology "8 Days a Week" collection





It's soft and warm. 
The pattern calls for mid weight  woven fabrics but i took the risk. I sized it down one size but i think i should go even smaller. On the other hand it would probably be just fine with some pullover underneath if the weather ever get chillier around here (which i hope it doesn't).


Είναι jersey quilted, πολύ μαλακό και ζεστό. 
Το πατρον είναι για σταθερό ύφασμα αλλά είπα να το ρισκάρω. Έκοψα ένα νουμερο μικρότερο μιας και χρησιμοποίησα ελαστικό ύφασμα αλλά πάλι μου φαίνεται μεγάλο, από την άλλη όμως θα είναι μια χαρά πάνω από πιο χοντρά ρούχα αν ποτέ κρυώσει ο καιρός (που δεν το εύχομαι). 



Being heavier and bigger than it should it's not very flattering but it is soooo comfy that i wear it every day. That's a WIN!


Λόγω του οτί είναι χοντρό το ύφασμα και λίγο μεγάλο δεν κολακεύει ιδιέτερα, αλλά είναι ΤΟΣΟ ανετο που το φοράω κάθε μέρα. 


It's the first time i sew a fully lined garment and these are me first welt pockets but the instructions were thorough and i had no difficulty.

 
Είναι η πρώτη φορά που φτιάχνω πλήρως φοδραρισμένο ρούχο και η πρώτη φορά που ράβω τέτοιου είδους τσέπες και μπορώ να πώ οτι οι οδηγίες ήταν τόσο αναλυτικές που δεν με δυσκόλεψε καθόλου. 


I want to try it with a woven too.


Νομίζω πως θα το δοκιμάσω και με σταθερό ύφασμα.
